Een roadtrip die je niet rijdt, maar ervaart. Met een lage maximum snelheid heb je daar ook alle mogelijkheden toe. De route van de Blue Ridge Parkway slingert door de staten North Carolina en Virginia. Je kunt hem rijden tussen twee nationale parken: De Great Smoky Mountains en Shenandoah National Park. De 700 kilometer die je per auto aflegt, voelen niet als veel, je kunt onderweg zoveel stops maken, zowel korte als lange. Het is daardoor een leuke plek om een tussenstop te maken. Kom je voor de natuur? Dan kun je bijvoorbeeld de Roanoke Mountain Loop (6,4 kilometer) wandelen. Andere bezienswaardigheden die je kunt zien zijn de Roanoke River Gorge en de Roanoke Valley. Even genoeg van de bergen? Dan kun je Roanoke zelf verkennen.
