Lost Dutchman State Park is vernoemd naar de Nederlandse goudzoeker Jacob Waltz. Hij ontdekte een legendarische goudmijn in het gebied, hij stierf echter zonder de locatie bekend te maken. Hierdoor weet tot op de dag van vandaag niemand waar de goudmijn zich bevindt.
